re Camera Apps

UI

The re Camera was HTC's entry into the action camera market intended as a competitor to the GoPro. At the time, its distinguishing feature was its mobile applications on Android and iOS. Syncing and management of the device's capture was a wireless affair through these smartphone apps.

As the design intern, I was tasked with co-creating the visual design translations and final UI for the initial release. This translated to roughly 100 screens in all, over the course of about four weeks.

The 100 Screen Experience

This was a formative lesson in managing not only day-to-day tasks, but keeping on-pace for our larger deliverable timelines and concurrent efforts on other projects. I was given a great deal of autonomy during my time with HTC, both in interpreting visual designs as well as sharing my critiques in our group reviews.

It was also an exercise in defining and managing complex UI libraries. Utilizing the initial visual design language explorations, I helped translate those for production-ready designs: mockups, annotations, and asset libraries.
